Scotch Broom

You know the story. Cut it and it resprouts. Dig up the soil and its seeds, viable for 70+ years, send up a new crop. Scotch broom may be a legume that fixes some nitrogen into the soil, but it also puts out allelopathic chemicals that suppress anything that’s not more Scotch broom. Your goal should be to get shade on the ground — a tree or shrub canopy — which is the best way to eliminate Scotch broom.
