English Ivy

What looks great on a brick building doesn’t look so great when it makes an alder a windsail. Ivy not only climbs and slowly strangles trees, making them top-heavy and prone to fall, but as a shade-happy groundcover it snuffs out native wildflowers as it spreads. A little bit of effort goes a long way when fighting ivy.
